Learning Objectives Management

The Learning Objectives Management screen allows administrators to define and maintain learning objectives used within the clinical module. These objectives represent the expected knowledge, skills, and competencies that students should demonstrate during their clinical training.

Learning objectives are organized by Discipline and are used in assessments, evaluations, and reporting to measure student performance.

Accessing Learning Objectives

To access the Learning Objectives Management screen:

  1. From the left-hand navigation menu, expand Clinical
  2. Select Learning Objectives

The screen displays a list of disciplines, each of which can be expanded to view the associated learning objectives.

Understanding the Screen

  • Learning objectives are grouped under their associated Discipline
  • Each discipline can be expanded or collapsed using the arrow icon
  • Use Expand All or Collapse All to quickly view or hide all objectives
  • The search bar allows you to find specific learning objectives
  • Each learning objective can be edited directly within its discipline group

Relationship to Disciplines

Learning objectives are directly linked to Disciplines, and this relationship determines how they are used in the system.

  • Learning objectives appear in assessments and evaluations associated with a discipline
  • They help define what is being measured during student performance reviews
  • The discipline selected ensures the correct objectives are available in the appropriate clinical context

Maintaining accurate alignment between disciplines and learning objectives is essential for consistent evaluation and reporting.

To create a new learning objective:

  1. Click + New Learning Objective
  2. Enter the Learning Objective Name

Deleting Learning Objectives

⚠️ Learning objectives cannot be deleted.

This restriction ensures data integrity, as learning objectives may be linked to:

  • Existing assessments and evaluations
  • Historical student performance data
  • Reporting and analytics

If a learning objective is no longer required, it is recommended to:

  • Leave it unused going forward
  • Or update its wording if appropriate

Important Notes

  • Learning objectives play a key role in assessment design and student evaluation
  • Changes to learning objectives may impact how student performance is measured and reported
  • Ensure objectives are clearly written and aligned with the appropriate discipline

Proper management of learning objectives ensures meaningful assessment of clinical competencies and supports consistent educational outcomes.
